In February 2015 the Nez Perce Tribe completed a 10kW PV demonstration system at the Tribal Hatchery Complex in Juliaetta, Idaho. As a Renewable Facility, this project will function as an ongoing community education tool by teachers in four area school districts to supplement sustainability education for students throughout the Nez Perce region.

Solar 4R Schools provided a renewable energy teacher training workshop to area teachers along with customized, durable science kits for four school districts valued at approximately $12,000. Teachers at each participating school... Read full project narrative >>

Nihomachi Terrace Apartments

Location:
Seattle, WA

The original photovoltaic (PV) system housed on Nihonmachi Terrace Apartments was installed when the complex was originally built. In 2008, the original system stopped producing electricity because it was not attached to an active utility account. Thanks to the generous support of Seattle City Light, the Solar 4R Schools team got the system back up and running in 2009. At the time of the project, energy monitoring provided to Nihonmachi Terrace has connected the real-time performance data from their 2-kilowatt system to students and educators to analyze the system's performance data for... North Mountain Park Nature Center

Location:
Ashland, OR
Technology Type:
PV System Size:
1.00 - kilowatt

Located in Ashland, the panels were installed on the roof of the pavilion at North Mountain Park just east of the Nature Center in October of 2005. The PV modules collect solar energy and a utility-interactive inverter converts the DC power from the PV array to AC power. The power is then synchronized with the city's electricity. BEF assisted in the project by providing data monitoring service in October 2008. Energy monitoring provided by the Solar 4R Schools... Read full project narrative >>

Northwest Stream Center

Location:
Everett, WA

PV System Size:
4.00 - kilowatts

The Northwest Stream Center had several goals in initiating the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) system onto their facility. First, was to reduce the Adopt-a-Stream Foundation's use of hydropower-generated electricity. Thanks to funding provided by the Snohomish County PUD's Planet Power program, they achieved this goal by installing an easily-expandable 2-kilowatt PV system system and initiating a fundraising effort to expand that system up to 80-kilowatts. The system is intended to reduce monthly electric bills by providing power to the Trout Stream Exhibit while demonstrating how the... Read full project narrative >>
