Central Electric Cooperative - Community Solar

As Oregon's Largest Community Solar Project, Central Electric Cooperative energized its 200-kW photovoltaic system in January 2016, feeding the electricity produced directly into the co-op’s distribution system. The system, designed and built by Sunlight Solar Energy of Bend, uses seven hundred 285-watt panels manufactured by SolarWorld in Portland. View live solar production here!
Located in southeast Bend, this community solar project is supported by Central Electric members who share a sense of importance about solar energy. CEC launched this project in response to feedback from members who feel the co-op has a responsibility to explore alternatives to traditional sources of energy production. One of the stated project objectives is that all costs be borne by co-op members who voluntarily participate. The project will produce an estimated 306,521 kilowatt-hours annually, providing the annual electricity needs for nearly 19 average Central Electric Co-op residential accounts. The project has the potential to be expanded in 100-kW increments to a maximum of 500-kW. Addition of future phases will be driven by growth in participant support. Central Electric members can learn more about how to participate in the project by going to www.cec.coop/communitysolar. Details are available on both the Green Power and Shared Solar programs.
