Marshall Middle School

As a Renewable School, Marshall Middle School in Olympia, Washington is building a dedicated community of renewable energy educators, generating clean energy through their 1-kilowatt photovoltaic system, and leveraging the system's performance data as an educational tool to bring energy topics to life in their classrooms.

Thanks to a grant from Puget Sound Energy, students at Olympia's Marshall Middle School can now study renewable energy first hand. The 1.1 kW solar photovoltaic demonstration project, dedicated on October 23, 2008, enables students to explore how clean, renewable energy systems work through direct, daily experience at their school. Environmental awareness is not new to students at Marshall. They have a robust recycling and composting program, and participate in PSE's Powerful Choices for the Environment program.
