Visitors to the Lake Metroparks Farmpark are learning the characteristics and benefits of solar power by controlling an interactive 2-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) array tracker installed at the park in 2007. As they attempt to optimize the array's relationship to the sun, a pond fountain will change height as a direct result of the power produced.
Energy monitoring provided to the Park by the Solar 4R Schools program made the live performance data from their PV system accessible to the community for educational purposes at the time of the project. The installation will also act as an attraction for the facility's other renewable energy installations and as a statement of Farmpark's overall commitment to sustainability. Learn more about their renewable energy efforts on their website.
