About the School:

Renewable Classroom projects are designed to build a dedicated community of renewable energy educators within a single school or district, led by a designated “Teacher Champion.”

In summer 2017, fifth grade teachers participated in a day long renewable energy professional development workshop in the Learners Hall at The International School. This inquiry-based, hands-on science and engineering training program offers a review of the science, technology, and classroom applications of solar energy and other renewables for elementary classrooms. Teachers spent the day designing and testing sun ovens, built solar circuits, and designed, built and tested solar vehicles.

Milo Solar, LLC. installed a solar project on the school as part of the project to provide the school with energy and educational benefits. This project was made possible with funding support from Portland General Electric Renewable Development Fund and Milo Solar.
