Lynnwood High School (LHS) is a comprehensive public high school serving grades 9-12. One of their school-wide initiatives is to encourage students to be stewards of their local and global environment. Students in 9th grade at LHS take an introductory science course called Integrated Physical Science. This course teaches students about energy transfers and transformation, energy resources both renewable and non renewable, and how energy usage affects our environment.
Renewable Classroom projects are designed to build a dedicated community of renewable energy educators within a single school or district, led by a designated "Teacher Champion."
Lynnwood High School was provided a Renewable Classroom project from Solar 4R Schools through a grant from Snohomish County PUD's Planet Power program. Educators within Lynnwood received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website.
