As a Renewable School, Coupeville Middle and High School is building a dedicated community of renewable energy educators, generating clean energy through their awarded 1.84-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system, and leveraging educational resources provided by Solar 4R Schools to bring energy topics to life in their classrooms.
Coupeville School facilities are the main community center for Coupeville and Island County events, hosting thousands of people from over 60 different organizations and educational events each year. This provides an ideal opportunity to educate both the students and broader community on renewable energy technologies.
In 2009, educators at Coupeville received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing energy, conservation and renewable technology curricula, as well as complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website. Coupeville is a community that continually demonstrates its commitment to sustainable living.
