In 2009, the City of Beaverton received $914,900 in federal stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Of this funding, $125,242 was used to install solar panels on the roof of the Beaverton City Library.

The Library completed a series of energy efficiency retrofits and installed a 17.6 kilowatt solar array on the roof. In the fall of 2014 a 9.72kW solar installation was completed at Yakima's West Valley Junior High. This project was made possible by financial support from Pacific Power's Blue Sky Program and project design and oversight by Bonneville Environmental Foundation's Renewable Energy Group.
