About the School:

East Valley Middle School received twenty 224-Watt solar panels installed in December 2010, helping save the district on electricity costs. The panels were installed thanks to a joint effort between NorthWestern Energy, Independent Power Systems, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Montana Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.

In addition to building a dedicated community of renewable energy educators, the Renewable Classroom PLUS project provided to East Valley by Solar 4R Schools™ has transformed the school's existing photovoltaic (PV) system into an interactive classroom tool. Energy monitoring services and equipment allowed educators and students to view the real-time performance data from their 4-kilowatt system at the time of the project.

Educators within East Valley Middle School also received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website.
