Renewable Energy Inquiry and Engineering workshop is a FREE full-day professional development training made possible by Arconic Foundationand CE. This inquiry-based, hands-on science and engineering training program offers a review of the science, technology, and classroom applications of clean energy applicable for Elementary School teachers.
This workshop is an initial engagement open to Elementary teachers to provide foundational knowledge on "integrated power grid" and clean energy topics to utilize in the classroom. Teachers will gain background content knowledge in energy topics aligned to the Virginia Science Standards of Learning, as well as direct curricular ideas and practices developed and tested by teachers in collaboration with the CE program. All attending teachers will receive substitute reimbursement, access to hands-on materials provided to Hampton City Schools, and training in specific teacher-generated curriculum to bring back to their classroom for immediate use.
