Lake Washington School District

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is located between Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, to the east of Seattle. Covering 76 square miles, LWSD is the public school district for the cities of Kirkland and Redmond as well as about half of Sammamish. On the north end of the district, some Bothell and Woodinville residents also attend our schools.

13.00 - kilowatts

Eastlake High School is committed to preserving both its learning community and its physical surroundings. The school's 13-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system was installed in 2008 and uses the energy of the sun to produce electricity for the school, even on Seattle's cloudy days. The PV system also give students a more hands-on opportunity to learn about renewable energy, and how technology is playing an increasingly important role in preserving the environment. Energy monitoring services and hardware provided to the school has connects real-time energy data from their PV system to the... Read full project narrative >>
