About the School:

This project was made possible in partnership with Idaho Power’s Solar 4R School’s Program through contributions from customers of the Green Power Program. Cascades School is a K-12 district located in Cascade, ID with the mission to inspire all students to reach their maximum potential, become lifelong learners, and be contributing, responsible citizens.

Clean energy topics and science kit materials will support new ideas in Cascade Schools STEM cirriculum while live production data from the solar installation allows students to analyze the benefits of solar energy generation.

Cascade School District is a K-12 rural school located in Valley County that serves a total of 270 students The Cascade school community has a strong commitment to STEM, sustainability, andhands on learning opportunities. In the 2017-2018 school year, Cascade students participated in the Solar Go-Kart Challenge with the support of their teachers and local volunteers. The school actively participates in the Science Olymiad and the Envirothon as well.

The clean energy topics and activities explored with Cascade educators on October 29, 2018 will build upon the existing activities taking place at Cascade School. A highlight of the training was leveraging the space and time for elementary, middle, and high school teachers to spend time considering how the curriculum fits into their grade band. The live energy production data from the solar installation provides a real world application  for the clean energy content taught in the classroom.
